The end...

This October will be 10 years since I started the blog. 10 years since I started this adventure that was supposed to be short lived, but has now become my life.

I've had lots of jobs. Got married. Went back to school. Started a new career. Had a baby.  Moved. Traveled to South Africa (with a baby). Traveled to Japan (again with the baby).

Oh and don't forget the most recent development, got pregnant (again) and having the second one in July 2015.

So please forgive me for not writing in almost a year. I've sat down many times to write, but found it too hard. Too tough to put into writing all the crazy thing that were going on in my life. Not that the crazy things were bad, but lets be honest when you have a baby if they are sleeping, you better be sleeping or eating. You could clean the house or cook up some food for a future meal. Perhaps shower, but you really should be sleeping.

Well, I'm sorry to say I never slept. I did everything but sleep. Except writing on my blog. So rather than take on another year of making internal excuses I'm going to do something I never thought I would do.

Turn off my blog.

Before you shout at me, please note I am not deleting the contents completely. I'm saving a copy of it on my hard drive so that in the future I can read it. So Natalie and the new bub can read it. So they can laugh the way you and I have laughed. At my misfortune....

So to you, my amazing readers, I say thank you and goodnight. xxx

Time to break out the winter warming dishes

After having that brilliant pasta dish my stomach was craving more winter warming dishes. I flipped through Jamie's cook book and found tons of beautiful things, but most of them had meat.

For those who weren't keeping up with my random eating habits, I had gone off meat a few years ago and was only eating fish. Since becoming pregnant and having Natalie I have had meat a few times - mainly when my iron levels were low - ensuring I only bought free range/organic/sustainable/locally farmed meat. The first few times I ate it I felt horrible. Here I was a pescetarian, eating the food that I told others I would never have. I kept reminding myself that the reason I stopped eating meat was because of all the rubbish they were feeding the animals. It wasn't about the way they were killed, but about eating local/sustainable food that was cared for while it was alive. Plus I was getting all my nutrients from other foods, meat didn't need to be the centre of my diet.

Not just boring pasta...

This time I was making something everyone loves, but doing it the Jamie way.. with some veggies. Which meant that Andy wasn't going to go near the dish. Which was a shame as it was amazing, though as my dad so wonderfully puts it.. MORE FOR ME!

What to do with some salmon

Vanessa and I were chatting, we both had pieces of salmon for dinner, but weren't too sure as to how to cook them. We were both planning to rely on our old favourite recipe, bit of lemon, salt, pepper and olive oil. Served with a side of rice and sting beans. Then I remembered I had my cook book. There must be a dish in there that would delicious and easy to cook. After a quick look through the book I found the answer, Asian salmon.

It couldn't all be about cooking

How else can I ensure you'll come back to see how I cooked the next dish.

Aiming high

So it seems that I went from posting very frequently to not at all. To those who have stuck round and managed to revisit this blog in hopes of new content - THANK YOU. To those who only check in once and a blue moon, but enjoy my writing - THANK YOU.

For the past four months, well four and a half, I've been tempted to close down this blog. I never write, I feel horrible for keeping the blog going, but the way I see it, I have two choices. Turn it into a "mommy" blog where I talk about my daughter non-stop and all the different types of poos she has each day. OR I can use this as a platform for me to focus on something other than my fantastic daughter, such as my new found need to cook a meal, eat and get to bed before 9pm.

I'm opting for plan B.

Attempting to return to society

I have no clue if anyone checks this anymore, if you do I am so sorry for the delay. There are so many things people don't tell you about what happens AFTER the baby is born. The most important being, your sanity and lack of focus for anything other than this tiny little person. This person who needs you at any hour of the day for EVERYTHING.

This little person has been changing rapidly. One week she is a monster who screams the house down. The next she is an angel who is learning to smile. Most recently she has been finding her hands, interacting with us and kicking like a frantic swimmer (or maybe that is just me hoping). I would write more but she only sleeps in 45 minute blocks at the moment. So this is all I can manage. Rumor has it she should manage to sleep for longer, but considering she slept almost all day yesterday I'm pretty sure she is making up for it today.

And then there were three

So we had a busy Wednesday.... got up in the morning, had some breakfast, went to the hospital and came home (that night) with a baby.
